Courses in Marlboro’s certificate program cover the design, implementation, and evaluation of educationally oriented technology. The focus is effective integration of technology teaching tools into schools, colleges, nonprofits, and companies.
Nine of your 15 credits will be devoted to core courses on the rich history and learning theories behind educational technology, current media design and production tools and techniques, and how to use learning management systems effectively. Six credits of electives allow a flexible focus on subjects such as instructional design, K 12 integration, management, or research.
Classes for the certificate program meet every other weekend, year round with online work in between. Some electives are entirely online. Completion can be in as little as one year, or as long as you wish.
All courses can be applied to Marlboro’s 30 credit EdTech master’s degree (MAT), provided a student transfers to that degree before completing the certificate. 12 credits can be applied to a master’s once this certificate is complete. If you are a licensed Vermont teacher, all courses count towards the 18 credit Educational Technology Specialist endorsement that is awarded by the Vermont Department of Education through transcript review.
