A suicide bomber attacked a military convoy in Kabul Tuesday morning, killing three NATO soldiers and injuring 16 civilians. n
The explosion took place around 8 a.m. local time in heavy traffic on the airport road near the Supreme Court, according to the BBC. n
Witnesses said a vehicle from the convoy was completely destroyed in the attack, and injured soldiers were seen receiving first aid soon after. n
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast, which took place amid uncertainty and controversy over Afghanistan s recent presidential elections. The elections have been dogged by allegations of fraud. n
The nationalities of the soldiers in the convoy are not yet known, reports said. n»,»section» «name» «World»,»slug» «world»,»url» «http / / /world /»,»description» «The latest news and analysis from TIME’s correspondents on world politics, diplomacy, conflict, culture, humanitarian disasters, religion and much more» ,»tag» «name» «Afghanistan»,»slug» «afghanistan»,»url» «http / / /tag /afghanistan /» ,»tags» «Afghanistan blast explosion Kabul U.S. Embassy»,»hero» «class» «landscape»,»thumbnail» «http / / /2014 /09 / «,»src» «small» «http / / /2014 /09 / «,»small 2x» «http / / /2014 /09 / «,»large» «http / / /2014 /09 / «,»large 2x» «http / / /2014 /09 / » ,»credit» «Omar Sobhani u2014 Reuters»,»caption» «U.S. troops carry the dead body of a member of an international troop at the site of suicide attack in Kabul September 16, 2014. «,»alt» «U.S. troops carry the dead body of a member of an international troop at the site of suicide attack in Kabul» ,»id» 3382364,»encoded url» «http%3A%2F% «,»encoded shortlink» «http%3A%2F% «,»encoded title» «Suicide Bomber Attacks NATO Convoy in Kabul Killing 3″,»twitter text» «Taliban%20suicide%20bomber%20attacks%20NATO%20convoy%20in%20Kabul%20killing%20three%20soldiers»,»twitter via» «TIMEWorld»,»ads» «neg» «false»,»post title» «Suicide Bomber Attacks NATO Convoy in Kabul Killing 3 » ,»Partner Module» «partner» «Select»,»post title» «Suicide Bomber Attacks NATO Convoy in Kabul Killing 3 » ,»email title» «Suicide%20Bomber%20Attacks%20NATO%20Convoy%20in%20Kabul%20Killing%203%20%7C%20TIME»,»email body» «Suicide%20Bomber%20Attacks%20NATO%20Convoy%20in%20Kabul%20Killing%203%0A%0ATaliban%20claims%20responsibility%20%0A%0Ahttp%3A%2F% » , «url» «http / / /3380583 /air france pilots strike /»,»right now» true,»shortlink» «http / / /1wmDwYZ»,»title» «Massive Flight Cancellations as Air France Pilots Go on Strike»,»post type» «post»,»time article» true,»comments allowed» true,»short title» «Massive Flight Cancellations as Air France Pilots Go on Strike»,»excerpt» «Pilots are protesting cost cutting measures»,»format» «brief»,»time» «pretty» «Sept. 15, 2014″,»published» «2014 09 15 19 23 49″,»updated» «2014 09 15 23 23 49″,»minute» «7 23 pm»,»short» «9 /15″ ,»authors» «id» 221794754,»url» «http / / /author /nolan feeney /»,»name» «Nolan Feeney»,»bio» «

A weeklong workers strike that began Monday has caused Air France to cancel over half of all its flights, as pilots protest cost cutting measures. n
Six out of 10 flights were canceled, Reuters reports, with similar cancellations expected in the days to come. Pilots are striking to protest the airline’s expansion of its low cost operations. n
Air France announced last week a plan to move much of its operations in Europe to the company’s cheaper subsidiary, Transavia, and base some flights out of foreign countries to save approximately $1.3 billion, the Associated Press reports. Pilots claim the airline is moving jobs outside of France in order to pursue cheaper taxes and cheaper labor. n
Another, briefer pilots strike was planned for the German airline Lufthansa but was ultimately called off. Many European carriers have been forced to restructure and adjust their business models a
s they face competition from cheaper rivals. n

In the middle of a probe over alleged corruption in its international division, Walmart has caught its own spokesman in a lie. n
David Tovar, Walmart s vice president of communications, and the company s spokesperson as it responds to allegations that it violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, has said he is leaving the job he has held since 2006, Bloomberg reports. n
That s after the retail juggernaut found out that Tovar had represented himself as a 1996 graduate of the University of Delaware but in fact had no such degree, a source close to the matter, which is being kept private, told Bloomberg. n
Officials from the University of Delaware also told Bloomberg that Tovar had left the school where he had been studying art on May 25, 1996, with no diploma. n
Neither Tovar nor Walmart has spoken publicly about the allegations. But Walmart did release a statement in which Tovar said that he has «decided to leave Wal Mart at the end of the month.» n
«I have loved every second of every minute I ve been with the company and I don t have enough room in this e mail to give justice to the life changing experience of working for the world s largest retailer,» said Tovar. n
It was unclear why or how Walmart came across the revelation about Tovar s school record eight years into his employment there. n
